Rader Announces State Grants for Infrastructure Improvements, Public Safety Grants

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jack Rader (R-Monroe) today announced over $1.7 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to support critical infrastructure improvements and public safety projects across Monroe County.

Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues under Act 71 of 2004 and are used to support economic development, community improvement and public interest projects.

“I’m happy to see this state funding coming into the 176th District for projects that will have a real impact on our community,” Rader said.

The approved projects include:

• Chestnuthill Township- $200,000 for the construction of a new ADA compliant sidewalk and associated infrastructure improvements along State Route. The project will create a safe pedestrian connection between the Chestnuthill Township Shared Emergency Services facility and the existing sidewalk network serving St. Luke’s Urgent Care.

• Jackson Township- $266,880 to purchase highway equipment, including a new wheel loader to replace the existing 2017 model, as well as a pickup broom and snow wing.

• Monroe County- $54,280 to replace deteriorated doors at the Monroe County Fireman’s Association “Burn Building” Training Facility in Hamilton Township. The upgrades will enhance security and ensure the facility remains safe and functional for firefighting, law enforcement, and emergency services training.

• Monroe County Industrial Development Authority, on behalf of Eldred Township- $600,000 to replace the roof of the Eldred Township Community Center. The building requires a full roof replacement due to significant deterioration. The project includes substrate preparation, installation of insulation, crickets and slumps, and all necessary roofing materials. LSA funds will support construction and administrative costs.

• Monroe County Industrial Development Authority, on behalf of the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority- $256,116 to purchase a new hook lift truck for the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority in Tobyhanna Township.

• Tobyhanna Township- $350,000 to rehabilitate the aging 30 year old Emergency Services Building. These improvements will extend the building’s service life and ensure it remains a safe, functional facility for emergency operations.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority is an independent agency responsible for administering state investments that support Pennsylvania’s economic growth and community development.
