Rader Announces State Grant for Park Improvement Project

January 28, 2025

HARRISBURG – Tobyhanna Township today was awarded a state grant of more than $243,000 to assist with the rehabilitation of Locust Ridge Ball Field Park, announced Rep. Jack Rader (R-Monroe), who played a role in securing the funding.

The township plans to revitalize the underused baseball field into a more versatile recreational area that includes a softball-sized field, walking track fitness stops and an outdoor fitness gym. This grant will go toward the construction of the gym and installation of equipment.

“I am proud to fully support the grant for this worthwhile recreation project, which is part of Tobyhanna Township’s broader action plan for growth and development,” said Rader. “It’s always rewarding to see state resources being invested back into our community for initiatives like this one that will benefit residents of all ages for many years to come.”

The grant was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) and made available through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program. The grant program is supported by the Marcellus Legacy Fund established by Act 13 of 2012 to provide for the distribution of natural gas drilling impact fees.

The CFA is an independent agency of the Commonwealth and holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
