Rader to Hold Identity Theft Seminars
April 19, 2023
BLAKESLEE – In his continuing effort to reduce the number of identity theft victims in the 176th Legislative District, especially among older residents, Rep Jack Rader (R-Monroe) is once again teaming up with the Office of Attorney General to co-host two upcoming seminars on the latest scams.
“Identity theft continues to be one of the fastest growing crimes in the country and scammers are constantly coming up with schemes to trick us into giving them our personal information,” said Rader. “Our seminars are an easy way to learn how to protect yourself from becoming a victim.”
The free events are scheduled as follows:
• Thursday, May 4, 5-7 p.m., Faith Lutheran Church, 550 Route 940, Pocono Lake.
• Thursday, June 15, 5-7 p.m., Ross Township Municipal Building, 250 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg.
The seminars will be led by Dave Shallcross, director of senior protection with the Office of Attorney General. Topics to be covered include what to do if one becomes a victim of identity theft, tips on how to protect personal information online and in everyday interactions, and guidelines on how to spot scams intended to steal one’s identity.
Reservations are required for the seminars and can be made by calling one of Rader’s district offices at 570-643-7683 (Blakeslee office) or 570-620-4341 (Effort office).
